The OpCapita model requires an operationally intensive approach to achieving its turnaround plan, with active involvement by a broad range of team members, including regular and, where necessary, extended on-site assistance in a focused portfolio of investments.
Since the founding of the firm in 2006, OpCapita has sought to create value in operationally-challenged businesses in a variety of ways. Initially, OpCapita implements near-term actions, focused on establishing a stable operational and financial platform for growth. This is followed by medium term operational initiatives to drive value creation. Examples include:
- Profitable revenue growth through: improved sales productivity (for example optimising the use of space or the product mix); improving customer communication; expanding the range and adding new markets
- Margin expansion including: supply chain optimisation; enhanced inventory management; optimisation of store estate and HQ cost control
- Cash generation including: capex controls; optimisation of working capital and focus on margin
